A Beverly Hills Wedding…

I had the pleasure of photographing a Beverly Hills wedding with Sae Lee several months ago. The ceremony and reception were held in a unique private residence. When I learned that the owner of the home was an art historian and professor at UCLA, I knew that this would be a special one. Every nook and cranny was filled with precious works of art… a zen garden in the restroom, rock sculptures hanging over the pool… even a bowl of chocolates was actually an art piece. Enjoy a little glimpse into this sunny Los Angeles wedding…

Los Angeles Engagement {Kat + Steve}

We’ve come a long way from playing MASH in our little circle on the grass… Well, let me back up just a bit. Kathleen and I met the summer before we started high school. At band camp. Yes, Internet… our friendship means so much to me that it’s worth bringing up band camp… right here on my blog. {HA!} Our little circle of friends on the grass during lunch was a rudimentary, high school version of a business power lunch. 😉 Cramming for our next exam, reapplying makeup, scoping out “prospects” from across the quad, and dreaming about our futures come to mind. Which brings me back to the game of MASH. No, I’m not referring to 1970’s sitcom whose theme song alone bored me to tears as a kid. MASH {in case you aren’t familiar}  stands for: Mansion Apartment Shack House. It makes me laugh thinking about it now… but back then it was more than just a form of entertainment. We were dying to see what life had in store of us… where we would live, who our future husbands would be, how many children we’d have, and what kinds of cars we’d drive. Funny, none of us wanted 8 children and a minivan??? {WINK}

Fast forward to the present. Kat, you’ve found the one. The one who stands by your side… the one who encourages you to be nothing more than your fabulous self… the one who takes all of the guesswork out of your future. I’m so, so excited for you both and I can’t wait til your beautiful wedding day.

We started our afternoon in Little Tokyo in front of the very sushi restaurant that Steve proposed in… from there we headed to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Bradbury Building, and the legendary Biltmore Hotel. Los Angeles is so amazing… we went from the most contemporary of settings to a spectacular historic building… just within a few blocks of each other. Before I start belting out a certain Randy Newman song about LA… here are a few highlights from our day… =)

 This last image makes me laugh. What I actually wanted was a serious picture… but Steve, true to Steve form, couldn’t help but smile while holding the hand of his future bride. =)

Thank you Kat and Steve for spending a lovely afternoon with us before flying back up north. I’m hoping that one day you’ll tire of that gorgeous Davis air and move back down to the smog. {HA!} A special thank you to my girls who made sure that Kat’s makeup was flawless, shot some fun behind-the-scenes photos, and made it a truly memorable day!

Happy Thursday!

A Calamigos Ranch Wedding {S + B}

A bride spends countless hours, days and months dreaming and planning. From invitations, to seating charts, to dresses and jewelry… somehow it all comes together on that special day. It’s always so exciting to see the culmination of all that love and hard work. I was so honored to be one of two associate photographers covering this beautiful wedding reception along with Sae Lee at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. The bride got ready at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village… from the moment we walked in, I could feel the bride’s energy. I knew that this wedding would be unique, joyous, and beautiful. Enjoy a few of my favorite images…

This was my second wedding working with Shelly of Anderson Event Planning. Her warm personality and attention to detail made her an absolute pleasure to work with…

This last photo was taken by Peter Park as Sae Lee and I photographed the bride and groom…

My sincerest thanks for stopping by! Congrats to the lovely bride and groom… best wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness!

Maternity + Family Portraits {Gonzalez Family}

Already perfect with a sweet girl and a charming boy, the Gonzalez family excitedly awaits the arrival of a third child. Photographing their family was such a fun experience watching the brother/sister dynamic between the two little ones brought back lots of memories from my own childhood. Clara described the challenges of taking care of the little ones while being in the last stages of pregnancy. Never underestimate the superhuman strength of a pregnant woman! I’m so appreciative to the Gonzalez family for the opportunity to photograph them during such an exciting time. Their newest addition is a lucky one indeed… he’ll be coming into a family full of so much warmth and love. Best wishes for happy, happy times ahead!
